Zdarek, 47, died in the terrorist bomb attack on the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad. He temporarily stayed in the hotel due to the ongoing reconstruction of the Czech embassy building.
Charge d’affairs Jaroslav Kalfirt will temporarily head the embassy.
Zdarek is one of more than 50 casualties.
His remains were flown to Prague on Monday where the last respects were paid to him by President Vaclav Klaus and Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek.
“He was a professional who fulfilled his duties even in the most complicated conditions. He fell prey to an unexcusable coward terrorist attack,” Deputy Foreign Minister Tomas Pojar said in his speech Friday.
Zdarek, who took up the post of ambassador to Islamabad recently, survived the explosion in front of the Marriott Hotel, but probably died in the following fire when he was helping other endangered people.
Zdarek was born in 1960. After he completed his studies, he worked in the diplomatic service and he was Czech ambassador to Vietnam in 2004-2008. Zdarek was married and had two sons.
Pojar said earlier that the ministry did not view the attack in Pakistan as an attack against the Czech Republic.
The Pakistani embassy in Prague regrets the victims and condemns violence, it has told CTK.
