BAGHDAD, July 13 (KUNA) — US troops detained 110 suspected insurgents and seized 237 weapons’ caches during Operation "Dragon Hammer" in al-Rashid District south of the Iraqi capital from July 1-11, a US Army statement said on Friday.
The operation, launched by the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team "Dragons," 1st Infantry Division, was aimed at rooting out suspected terrorists, interdicting their supplies, and helping the Iraqi government secure the southern Baghdad district, the statement added.
The suspects detained included leaders of al-Qaeda in Iraq, as the detained would be held for further questioning, it concluded.
